Wild Iris

The wild iris, often known as the blue flag iris (Iris versicolor), is a striking perennial that brightens wetlands, meadows, and garden borders with its vibrant blooms. Typically flowering in late spring to early summer, this plant showcases blossoms that range from deep violet to a lighter blue, with occasional white and yellow varieties. Each bloom features three upright petals called "standards" and three downward-curving petals known as "falls," adorned with intricate vein patterns and often a splash of yellow at the base.

The wild iris emits a subtle fragrance, which varies slightly among species, but generally carries a light floral aroma with fresh, clean, and slightly sweet notes.
