Siberian Angelica

Siberian Angelica, scientifically known as Angelica sylvestris, is a species of plant belonging to the Apiaceae family, often found in cooler northern climates including parts of Asia and Europe. This herbaceous plant is recognized for its tall, hollow stems and large umbrella-like clusters of white or slightly pink flowers. It has a robust root system which is where most of the plant's aromatic properties are concentrated.

The scent profile of Siberian Angelica is complex and generally appreciated for its earthy, herbaceous notes. Characteristically, it has a deep musky aroma with hints of woody and spicy nuances, often compared to that of its relative, the common angelica (Angelica archangelica). The roots, when extracted, can yield an essential oil that is rich and warming, used frequently in aromatherapy for its purported grounding and soothing effects. The leaves and seeds also exude a pleasant fragrance, albeit lighter and with a fresher, green note. This makes Siberian Angelica a versatile plant in perfume-making, providing a unique aromatic base that can lend depth and character to fragrances.
