Rhubarb Leaf

Rhubarb leaves are large, triangular shapes with long, thick stalks, usually red at the base fading into green towards the leaf. The leaves themselves have a somewhat rough texture, with deep veins and a ruffled edge, contributing to their distinctly lush appearance.

In terms of scent, rhubarb leaves don't emit a strong fragrance like flowers or herbs; however, they do possess a subtle, vegetal aroma. This scent is generally earthy and slightly bitter, reflecting the toxic nature of the leaves, which contain oxalic acid. Unlike the edible stalks with their tart, fruity fragrance, the leaves are not edible due to their toxicity. Hence, they are typically not used in any culinary applications where scent or flavor might be extracted or utilized.
