Myrhh

Myrrh is a natural gum or resin extracted from several small, thorny tree species of the genus *Commiphora*. Myrrh resin has been widely used throughout history as a perfume, incense, and medicine. It is traditionally harvested by making incisions in the tree's bark, from which the resinous sap bleeds and hardens. These hardened resins are called tears.

The scent profile of myrrh is warm, earthy, and slightly musty with a hint of smokiness. It carries a balsamic fragrance, with notes ranging from woody to slightly spicy. The aroma is rich and can vary slightly depending on the specific tree and geographical conditions but generally features a deep, resinous baseline. Myrrh's scent has often been described as sweetly somber and is sometimes noted to have a slight vanilla or licorice-like undertone.

In aromatherapy, myrrh is celebrated for its calming and grounding properties. It blends well with various other scents like frankincense, sandalwood, and citrus oils, creating a multi-dimensional bouquet that enhances emotional and spiritual well-being.
