Dahlia

Dahlia is a genus of bushy, tuberous plants native to Mexico, known for their strikingly vibrant and diverse flower forms. Dahlias range in color from pastel to neon, and their blooms can be as small as 2 inches or over 10 inches across. These flowers display a wonderful variety of shapes, from the spiky petals of cactus dahlias to the perfectly round pompons.

Interestingly, dahlias do not have a significant natural scent. Unlike many other flowering plants traditionally used in gardens for their fragrance, dahlias are primarily grown for their beautiful and diverse blooms. The lack of scent makes them particularly appealing to gardeners who may suffer from allergies or who prefer gardens free from strong floral scents.

Dahlias bloom from midsummer to first frost, offering a long-lasting display of color when many other plants begin to fade. They are popular in floral arrangements and bouquets, especially in occasions that demand eye-catching and elaborate flower displays. In landscaping, dahlias are used to add a splash of color in borders, beds, and containers. They are also celebrated in numerous horticultural circles and shows across the world due to the extensive range of forms and colors.
