Cyclamen

Cyclamen is a genus of about 23 species of perennial flowering plants in the family Primulaceae. They are native to Europe, the Mediterranean, and Iran, with a notable concentration in the Iberian Peninsula and the Middle East. Cyclamen species are often characterized by their beautiful, upswept flower petals which can vary in color from white and pale pink to deep magenta. Some species bloom in autumn and winter, adding color to the garden during the colder months.

The leaves of cyclamen are equally attractive, typically heart-shaped, with a marbled pattern of green and silver which can vary significantly between species. These plants generally grow from tubers which allows them to survive dry and hot seasons underground.

When it comes to its scent, cyclamen has a delicate, floral fragrance. Its scent profile is subtly sweet with fresh, green, rosy notes that are sometimes likened to lily-of-the-valley. Not all cyclamen species are scented, but those that are can add a gentle and refreshing fragrance to indoor and outdoor settings. Cyclamen perfumes are often described as clean and uplifting, making cyclamen a popular choice for personal fragrances and in scented products like candles and room sprays.
