Callitris Columellaris

Callitris columellaris, commonly known as the White Cypress Pine, is a conifer native to Australia. It typically grows as a small tree, reaching up to 10 to 20 meters in height, and is characterized by a dense, conical shape with slender, spreading branches. The foliage consists of small, scale-like leaves tightly pressed against the branchlets, presenting a dark green to blue-green color.

The tree bears small, globular cones, each about 1 to 3 cm in diameter, which mature to a woody texture and contain several seeds. Adapted to arid and semi-arid climates, Callitris columellaris is drought-resistant and often used in landscaping for its ornamental appeal and for rehabilitation of degraded lands.

The essential oil derived from Callitris columellaris, known as White Cypress oil, is highly valued for its aromatic properties. Its scent profile is distinctively clean and woody with resinous, balsamic undertones, and a fresh, pine-like top note. This fragrance is often sought after in aromatherapy for its calming and grounding effects and is used in perfumes and scented products to impart a serene, natural essence reminiscent of rugged Australian landscapes.
